A bruised reed is bent and fragile, and a smoldering wick is barely hanging on, giving more smoke than flame. Yet Jesus does not treat weakness with harshness. He does not crush the broken, and He does not turn away from those who feel worn down, discouraged, or spiritually faint. Instead, He comes with gentleness, meeting hurting people with mercy and care. What seems broke to others is not beyond His reach.
